I know this sounds like a really big decision. And it is! It’s a decision that changes everything. It impacts the way we think, the way we live, and what we do in life. And it’s worth taking some time and thinking about in detail before making the commitment to follow Jesus. But in this post I’m going to try and share with you my thoughts on why following Christ is worthwhile - not just for me but for you too. So, following Christ is a big decision. But, what’s so great about following Christ? First of all , if we’re honest, we know that - at the moment - we’re not very good at following Jesus. For one thing, we tend to think that just because someone has ‘followed Jesus’ they’re perfect and nothing could be finer than them. Truthfully we tend to think this way because we really don’t know how to follow him properly. The word of God says: "But let us stop thinking like this. Instead, let us keep on holding fast to what we have been taught". (Hebrews 2:1). If we’re honest we know we haven’t been doing this. How often do we yell at each other, or complain about things? I bet it happens a lot more often than we like to admit! It’s easy to see how other people are failing to follow Christ, but harder to recognise that the same thing is true for us. Even if you are being honest with yourself, it is still really nice to know that God is pleased with us! He loves us even though our living times are not perfect. And he wants to make us more like him. We’re not going to get any of this from keeping all the rules and regulations of the law. But Jesus is able to do exactly what we need him to do. He can change us from the inside out. And he wants to! But when we follow Christ, we are saying "Lord, you know me when I’m not much like you". Where God has already made the first step - in sending his Son to earth - he wants us to step forward too. To follow through with our commitment and put our trust in him for what comes next . So Jesus does something in us that isn’t just about us being less annoying to other people, it’s not just about us being nice. It’s also . . . It’s also about Jesus giving us hope for the future. For example :  - Hope for forgiveness, after we’ve messed up, again and again. - Hope for strength to live like Jesus did when we feel like our lives are falling apart . - Hope to be able to trust God when things get really tough - like having to tell someone their partner has died, or dealing with our own illness or disability - then it is that God will be there for us. cfa1e77820
